I am a southwest Virginia based photographer specializing in on-location, fine art portraiture as well as landscapes. My love of photography spans 20 years and many continents, and with the exception of Motherhood, nothing brings me more pleasure than capturing real beauty in my images. I strive to create work that stops people in their tracks, I adore shooting in natural settings, and backlighting and blurriness make me happy! Many of my images are saturated with color and texture, although you’ll also find I love simple black and white work equally well.
What do I do? Hmmm… Well, to put it simply, I capture light and emotion in a natural setting. The light as it falls on the lay of the land and the emotion that stirs in me. Or the light in the eyes of a child as they slowly grow more comfortable and begin to reveal themselves to me.
Backlight, golden light, soft, filtered light. Happiness, reticence, love, awe. Light, emotion, nature. Captured. Interpreted. Presented. Photographed. That’s what I do. It’s what I love, what I am passionate about, obsessed with, driven to distraction by. I’d love to share it with you.
